100 new jobs at Microchem Laboratories

Microchem will require people at PhD, Masters and graduate level.

In Dungarvan, US giant Lancaster Laboratories has confirmed that, with its takeover of Irish company Microchem, 100 new jobs are to be created in the town. Microchem already employs 100 people. Microchem offers microbiological, chemical and environmental analysis services to the various pharmaceutical and medical industries in Europe and Asia. It will now operate as Lancaster Laboratories Europe. Located at Clogherane, Microchem will require people at PhD, Masters and graduate level. "We wanted to expand our laboratory services in Europe, and looked for a well established company with a strong reputation for quality and service and a culture that aligns with ours. We found that company in Microchem," said Timothy Oostdyk, Chief Operating Officer of Lancaster Laboratories. It is expected this will increase Ireland's attractiveness for future international investments “where the activities require high-level testing and validation for approval by international regulatory and standards organisations, such as the US Food and Drug Administration," Minister Martin said about the Lancaster announcement. Microchem, established in 1986 as a 10-sq-m home enterprise by husband and wife team Ciaran and Anita Geoghegan has since grown to become Ireland’s leading independent testing and research laboratories, providing microbiological, chemical and environmental analyses to the pharmaceutical, medical device, food and chemical industries in Europe and Asia.
